IF ROCKN JAZZ DOESN'T ROCK YOU TO SLEEP THEN
THERE'S GOOD NEWS FROM HOTEL ICON
Downtown Hotel Installs 340 Soundproof Windows
to Improve Sleep Experience for Guests
HOUSTON (October
31, 2007) - If the downtown Houston beat won't
let you sleep, then Hotel ICON has great news
for you. As part of its commitment to providing
guests with the most comfortable stay in downtown
Houston, the hotel recently installed 340 soundproof
windows. The new windows create a six inch air
gap insulating rooms from the every day noise
of downtown, while providing a thermal barrier
that reduces the amount of energy used by the
property.
"We continue to find new ways to make Hotel
ICON a perfect experience for our guests," said
Roland Maldonado, general manager of Hotel ICON. "The
hotel is located in the middle of downtown's
action allowing guests to enjoy the nightlife
right outside the doors of the hotel. We want
to make sure guests don't have to lose sleep
due to the sounds of the saxophone.? The soundproof
windows eliminate disturbances and provide quite,
uninterrupted rest allowing our guests to sleep
easy."
Hotel ICON recently completed the renovation
to its windows that included every guest room.
All rooms now feature soundproof windows that
provide better energy efficiency due to being
airtight and having an advanced tint technology.
The hotel continues to make changes that are
motivated by their initiative to create a balance
between accommodating their guests and the environment.
Hotel ICON recently met with GE to eliminate
the use of incandescent light bulbs and switch
to using compact florescent lamps (CFLs) that
will result in up to 75 percent less energy used.
The property has also switched to an energy provider
that produces energy using passive methods such
as wind and solar.
"Being energy efficient is very important
to us, but as a luxury destination we want to
ensure it doesn't sacrifice guest comfort. In
fact we've found that our new windows have improved
guests' stays," adds Maldonado.
Over the next few months,
Hotel ICON will continue to introduce new initiatives
that are good for the Houston environment and
good for Houston travelers. For more information,
